Know before you buy: The differences types of foam mattresses
Blog provided by The Foam Factory
If you’re reading this, you might have already decided that your next bed will be home to a foam mattress, rather than a spring, water, or air mattress. Since there are different types of foam mattresses, it’s important to know whether a conventional, latex, or memory foam mattress is best suited for your needs. To that end, we’ll be taking a look at the benefits each of these mattress materials have to offer.
Conventional Foam
Polyurethane foam is the most common type of foam mattress, and it is also usually the least expensive. It generally comes in a variety of densities, which allows you to choose from high- to low- density mattresses. However, conventional foam mattresses do not last as long as latex or memory foam mattresses and they are also unable to provide the level of quality or comfort the other types of foam are known for.
Latex Foam
Many, though not all of latex foam mattresses are made from natural materials derived from rubber materials. Natural latex is highly resistant to allergens and microorganisms, and is also very durable, providing good, long-lasting support to sleepers. Despite this, not everyone will feel comfortable with a latex mattress’s usual level of firmness.
Memory Foam
Memory foam mattresses are known for having high levels of quality, comfort, and adaptability. Memory foam is designed to become more malleable in the presence of body heat, allowing it to contour itself to a sleeper’s body shape. Furthermore, memory foam is the best material for reducing motion transfer or making sure you aren’t woken up by your partner shifting in the middle of the night. It should be noted that memory foam is also generally the most expensive option.
